Charged Particles is the San Francisco Bay Area’s favorite funky Latin jazz trio. They have toured Indonesia, England, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, and Italy, and recently toured the UK with trumpeter Randy Brecker, playing the acoustic jazz compositions of his late brother, Michael Brecker. Downbeat Magazine called the band “something special” and “inventive, invigorating, mesmerizing, beautiful, virtuosic, and lyrical.” Their CD of Brecker compositions (”Live at the Baked Potato!” on Summit Records) with saxophonist Tod Dickow was named one of the best CDs of 2021 in Jazzwise Magazine, JazzTimes Magazine, the Jazz Journalists Association Poll, the 16th Annual Jazz Critics Poll, and more.

Famed jazz critic Bill Milkowski said the recording is “staggering in its authenticity.” Randy Brecker said the recording is “smoking and intense from beginning to end.” And Downbeat said it offers “exciting, satisfying stuff”. JazzTimes Magazine said the band offers “an electrifying, push-the-limits performance style and is a tight and enormously talented trio”, and Jazz and Blues Report said: “Charged Particles is definitely dazzling.”
